The Spirit of Adventure by Colin Mortlock (2009)

“It is quite possible that The Spirit of Adventure will be the most important book you will ever read. If not, it should be. A bold statement, but one which I believe to be true. Why? Because it deals with the most fundamental question facing anyone who breathes: How best should I live my life?”

— Kev Reynolds, mountaineer & travel writer

Every human being has a story to tell. This book has been written describing the author's passion for life and especially for adventure in wild Nature. He describes vivid experiences that have shaped his thinking and led him to ask serious questions about the meaning of life itself.

Much of the book is concerned with the need to live according to conscience. This central section deals with values, virtues and wisdoms. Later chapters look at seminal topics such as Beauty, Music, Mystery & God, Love & Friendship and the challenge of living in 'the Now'.

The final chapters discuss the radical changes in attitude that may be needed by individuals in their own lives, as well as those working in education, government and business in order to address some of the destructive forces facing society today.

Many quotations have been used throughout the text and at the end of the chapters to support the views being given. The quotations may also stimulate further thought.

“Even though this book is highly personal, its messages are global.”

The Wisdom of Pure Adventure by Colin Mortlock (2011)

Review
The second monograph (16000 words), following on from Pure Adventure. The author, takes the reader on a journey through his life using vivid personal experiences - a journey progressing from adventure through unity to universal love.

A look at the man-made world then follows : the decline into celebrity cultures as a result of rampant consumerism and the inevitable and very serious problems man now faces. The rest of the book then suggests a way forward based on man’s natural roots and the creation of a global charity. Highly recommended.
